QuoteI haven't looked at the odds yet but I imagine it's about even.

Not much chance of that mate, i read the other day that 96% of bets had gone on Calzaghe!

kessler is still only 11/8,should be an intrsting fight, unlike his last one,how the fcuk does somebody from a reality tv show get to fight for a world title.

I was hoping for a little better than 11/8 for Kessler. The real odds will be on the winning round.

I can't honestly think of boxing as a sport.

It's barbaric, over-hyped and steeped in corruption.

IMHO

I'd certainly disagree with "barbaric", that sounds a bit strong to me!  :)  There are many safeguards in place at amateur and professional fights in the relatively unlikely event of something going "wrong".  If a referee considers that a fighter is taking too much punishment he will stop the fight.  And of course, medical expertise is close at hand.

It's also often underestimated about how much tactics and skill are involved in boxing, particularly at the highest level - having the most powerful punch isn't a guarantee a fight will be won.

Also, as someone who has a session of boxing training every week, and knowing how utterly gruelling and knackering it is, I know that these guys have to be extremely fit.  Especially at the top, boxers are nothing short of athletes.  So, although the sport undoubtedly has its dangers (the British Medical Association recommends it is banned) I would still say it can confidently be classed as a sport and a good one at that.

By that post, i take it you think he can beat Calzaghe then? I have to admit that i havn't seen him box, even though his record is good, but i just can't see him beating Joe.

it will be intresting zoony, old father time catches you just like that in the boxing game,i think every fight now is a hard one for joe, although i think he has a great heart,if kessler has the same i think it could be a great fight with maybe the young gun coming through, anyway iam looking forward to it i think its the first big fight setanta have had so we will see how there coverage goes.

To be honest Zoony, Ive gone back and forth on this. I may just have to sit this one out as far as the bookie. If I do place a bet it will be on the KO round. Kessler is such a mystery because he has only fought outside of Denmark a few times. The only sure thing is I will be up to watch it. ;D

QuoteIs it a PPV job?

Not if you've got Setanta mate.

I just checked the Setanta website and it is NOT available thru PPV. You have to subscribe to Setanta.
