Last night, I took the team out for a meal for my leaving do.
Will be put through my accounts as Christmas party (I checked with my Accountant).

This morning, they asked me to come back in January.

D'oh!

So, 2 weeks off, then its back for 5 weeks, Dec 30th through to Jan 31st.  Hoorah!!

Bad news is, I won't be spending New Year's Eve with her indoors.

Good new is, I won't be spending New Year's Eve with her indoors.  ONLY KIDDING!!!!!!!!

No idea what NYE Polish style will be like this year - I'll be the only one from the team on-site, and possibly, the only English speaking guest in the hotel (this, of course, is why they've finally cracked and offered an extension - no-one else was mug enought to volunteer to work that week!).

It was a cunning plan on my part, and it worked, so I've got 5 extra weeks out of them, but am still having my 2 weeks off - no WAY am I missing out on YYZ at Moses Gate (and meeting some other idjits from tnms.

So, the Sweeting-Jones World Tour (of Wroclaw, Poland, sponsored by Microbods Ltd), will continue after a short break to recover one's breath.

That'll make 21 months on tour.  Not even Rush tour for that long!

Wow.  Cracking treat for breakfast today.  I ordered eggs and bacon, and a colleague produced some HP sauce he'd smuggled in from good ol' blighty.  What a smegging hero.

Things to do today:

Expenses - done.
Timesheet - done.
Travel home for 2 weeks off.  Soon,  soon, my son.
Try and not to be superstitious (Friday 13th).
Buy Ash's Lagavulin in Munich airport  :-*
Look for nice pen in Munich airport  :)
Waste 3 hours in Munich airport  :(

Listen to Karnataka (in progress right now).
Listen to Machine Head - The Burning Red, which a Polish colleague has dumped on me.

Right off to catch a plane.  Will try and catch up later tonight.  If not, then sometime on the weekend - when I've got my new bike!

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for  the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all  ???.. and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2003,  but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures  whose contributions to society have helped to put the "Great" into Britain  (not to imply that Britain is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only "BRITAIN" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform or sexual orientation of the wisher.

NB - By accepting this greeting, you are accepting the following terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a  new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

Oh yeah - and a Happy Birthday to me - I'm 41 today.

I finally got to ride my bike today.  Rode for a grand total of a humungous 1.7 miles.  Admittedly this was just a 'technology familiarisation' ride to suss out the gears whilst the roads were quiet, but still - it drove home to me just how out of shape I am.

At the risk of sounding politically incorrect:
Just a plain happy birthday to you Reg!

Phew.  The in-laws have gone - I can relax a bit now.  Am now doing my VAT return and getting ready for tomorrow's YYZ gig.  Yee-har!

Had a couple of inches of snow here overnight and today.

Am currently listening to Black Sabbath - "Heaven and Hell" remastered.

Also on the playlist:
Tubeway Army - "Tubeway Army"
Mostly Autumn - "Catch the Spirit" double CD (from Chris).
Triumph - King Biscuit Flower Hour

That's right, no Rush.

Today's listening pleasure:

Karnataka - Delicate Flame of Desire - best album of 2003 so far (it comes out in shops in Feb I think)
Demon - The Plague, remastered CD, with bonus tracks of original mixes
Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
Black Sabbath - Paranoid

For all you new tnmsers out there - spread the word to anyone you think may be interested, post drivel to your heart's content (I do!), and above all, have fun (or be miserable as is your thing).

Its' been snowing again here in Wroclaw, and wifey told me last night that she'd had snow at home.

Last night, I was mostly buying the following:

Boston: "Corporate America"
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble: "Greatest Hits 2"
Eric Clapton: "Blues" (remastered with extra tracks)
Muddy Waters: "The Ultimate Collection"

Gonna kick off with the SRV methinks.

Well, so far today musically, there have been 2 misses and 1 hit.

Stevie Ray Vaughan is the hit.  This is excellent stuff.

Boston - Corporate America.  I soooooo wish I hadn't bought this.  There are some nice sounds on it, but in general its decidely average, no, below average, and the title track, about corporate greed, and destruction of the world - do they think that this is a NEW IDEA?  For Ged's sake!

The fate of this album was sealed with track number 4 - "With You".  Too close to country music for comfort.

The opening track, "I Had A Good Time", is the best thing on there.

Eric Clapton's "Blues" leaves me cold.  I don't know why.   Maybe its because it sounds to me like this is blues by the numbers - technical brilliance perhaps, but not much life, and not heavy enough for me.

Currently working my way through the Muddy Waters collection - which is definitely more interesting and varied than the Clapton set.

But Stevie Ray Vaughan - that's good stuff that is.
