I've been thinking about mortality a lot lately, this tends to happen when a few people die on the wards. Unfortunately I received an e mail informing me of the death of an old school friend. I hadn't seen him in a number of years but only the other day I was looking through some old school photos and thought about him when an old class photo turned up. It is always unsettling when someone of your own age passes away, it gives you a real sense of your own mortality as well as confirming how fragile and uncertain our grip on life can be.

I took my car for it's MOT today knowing fine well it would fail, the exhaust hanging off was a tell-tale sign. Anyway, I was shocked to discover that the brake cables and the sump (whatever that is) are knackered. It's going to cost

Anyways, I'm at meetings at HQ in Bristol tomorrow. Whilst I'm there the car is going into the garage again, this time for more work to the automatic choke, a new heat plate and - frankly - to stop water leaking in from the boot!

Well, I WON'T be seeing the Escort round the clock after all. When I got to Bristol this morning there was a new company car waiting for me, a "surprise" from my boss - a brand new sky blue Renault Megane 1.5 diesel injection. That'll do!

I've been stricken with asthma for the past three weeks and it was starting to wear me out. Over the past couple of days I've had some chest pains and, what felt like, palpitations so a trip to the doctors was undertaken. I've been started on steroids which means immediate inclusion in the British Olympic team ;D. Apart from that all is well with the world, took my soon to see Spiderman 2 today and we bought the first Spiderman DVD to watch tomorrow, much bonding was done. I've been Mr. DIY lately, decorated my son's room and stripped the wallpaper off the living room. I'm piss poor at hanging wallpaper so I'll leave that to a painter and decorater and I'm certainly not fitting the gas fire so nice Mr. Turner is doing that we he can find the time. I'm on holiday for two weeks so I would be catching up on some sleep if it wasn't for this damn asthma, at least I'll be able to catch up on some DVD viewing. I might even get around to wathing Kill Bill. ::) I'm picking up my new (as in new to me, not brand new) car on Friday, I'd go cruising in it but driving around in a bright red Nissan Almera doesn't really work. I'll hopefully be meeting up with Gebs and Stuart B this weekend when Gebs will regale us with his Las Vegas tales, lucky sod. ;) Less than two months to the tour and a modicum of excitement is in the air, winding up Willie (oh er missus) about stalker tickets has been good fun (sorry Willie, couldn't resist) but I'm surprised Mr. Gilray hasn't PM'd me telling me to cut it out. Anyway, life is sweet at the moment (asthma permitting) and long may it continue. :D :D :D 8) 8) 8)

Today myself, Stuart B and Gebs met up to discuss many, many things. We drank (my first time for many, many months), we ate and we drank some more. We discussed Gebs trip to Las Vegas, the hub and many, many things. Many, many things were discussed many, many times until we all went home. Anyway, things are sorted and things are in place so hold on to your hats and watch out!!

It's nearly 3 am and I'm just back from Kirkcaldy to see YYZ. I met up with a few TNMS members, Davie Arnott, Craig Smith, Gebs and Stuart Borland. I managed a quick handshake with Rushmuppet and didn't even get to speak with Jonno, sorry about that hopefully next time. Anyway, a pleasant time was had by all.

After weeks of feeling grotty - blocked sinuses leading to a continous pounding headache - I've got to the bottom of the problem. One of the new inhalers I was put on by the doctor, after my recent asthma flare up, was the cause. As soon as I stopped using it the sinuses cleared and the dreadful, continous cough I also had disappeared so life is sweet once again. It's been a bit topsy-turvy in the Neph household as my daughter is just back to school and my son has just started nursery. My wife, who's a teacher, is her usual beginning of term bag of neurosis and has been working her ample backside off the last couple of weeks. I'm taking her out to lunch on Sunday, it's the first time just the two of us have been out together since January. ::)

I would go out tonight but I haven't got a stitch to wear. Off to see Morrissey tonight, he's a miserable old c*** but so am I. That actually sounds like a Morrissey line!
