last one for today: Show Dont tell, or as it is now called Old, not new

How many times have you heard it
We play the same old songs
Everyone wants Xanadu
But its just far too  long
And Neil hates it

What else do you want?
We always play it safe
But apart from a few old faves
We don’t play anything that’s great
‘Cos Neil Says so!

Old….Not new

(old ones not new ones)
During the whole tour
(old ones not new ones)
You’ve heard them all before
(old ones not new ones)
We don’t care what you say

You can moan on Forums
You know that we wont budge
You can raise objections
But you’ll get this sludge
For the whole tour

Well give it due reflection
But we wont see sense
Our career is waining
Based on the evidence
And its Neil’s fault!

(old ones not new ones)
Hey order in the crowd
(old ones not new ones)
This PA’s far too loud
(old ones not new ones)
Enough of your demands
(old ones not new ones)
We gave you Show of Hands

(old ones not new ones)
Hey order in the crowd
(old ones not new ones)
Moaning’s not allowed
(old ones not new ones)
We don’t care what you like
(old ones not new ones)
Now where’s my motorbike

Circumstances

A boy alone, sat in his home
Reading websites that whinge and moan
Of all things new and classic tunes
That Rush will never do

One day in confusion
I felt pissed off and disillusioned
No recompense made me take offence
So I fecked off from here for a week

Now Rush play Ghost Of A Chance
They've brought back The Trees
They've dropped Circumstances
Plus ca change
Plus c'est la meme chose
The more that things change
The more they stay the same

Now I've gained some understanding
Of where my money might be
The thing that I now dream of
In a bank in the North East

These answers to my emails
Still contain the same old spiel
Just one more who's waiting for
The refund owed to me

Now Rush play Ghost Of A Chance
They've dropped Entre Nous
And fecking Circumstances
Plus ca change
Plus c'est la meme chose
Those boys never change
They've always been the same

Different Strings

Who wanted Jacobs Ladder
Or The Camera Eye?
If you wanted Hemispheres
This set might make you cry
Too much Snakes And Arrows?
Too much of the songs they always churn out?
Peel away the samplers
Maybe we might get some explanation?

This setlist appeals
To very few of us
And we wonder why we've come along
Can you please explain?
You're a part of us
With so many classic songs

What happened to those intsruments -
Did they go out of style?
Double-necks and Oberheims
No longer required
Different eyes need different things -
Different songs played on different strings
But there are times
For you and me
When we just don't agree.

Pastille Day

Lerxst eats bread, then he eats cakes
There’s no end to what he takes
He’ll eat fruit for all his worth
And chips with salt  despite his girth

And he's masking his pastille ways
The Gruyere cheese will not help his size
Fried the onions smoothie innocent
The jeans will break and make his belly rise

Wine stained trousers one more case
Cheesey smears  on his big face
See him now his bread to fry
As he would chow down on his pie

And he's masking his pastille ways
The Gruyere cheese will not help his size
Hear him farting what cacophony
The soup conjealed to let his jam sponge rise

Lessons taught but never learned
Once again the pizza's burned
Sell by date was in the past
Long ago the mould was cast

For he's masking his pastille ways
The Gruyere cheese with a plate of fries
Hear the trumpets from his boxer shorts
Chowder isn't all that money buys

Portaloo..

To seek the bog and take a ralf
Believe me its not nice
Classic songs they play a few
But sink the songs on rolling dice

I have heard the latest tales
On morality
There’s no mystery
from a biking book  I took a poo
I dumped so much I heard the plops
On cleanest pans unknown
me and mine alone
Searching for the lost  portaloo

Portaloo…They play within Enormo Dome
You’ve got to be a fan
No taste all new the stuff is rife
It’s time now for the can
To seek the bog and take a ralf
Believe me its not nice
Secret touch I’m gonna spew
And sink the songs on rolling dice

Three hours ten have come and gone
A crime has passed me by
Bar’s shut and I’m dry
An evening’s worth of neverending goo
Waiting for the show to end
Think I’ll start a fight
Paying for this sh!te
Risen has the cost -   for a pew

For a pew….. They play within Enormo Dome
They do it when they can
To some that take the humph
Are a sad and lonely fan
Anymore should I return?
Believe me it’s not nice
For I have whined on for a few
But sink the songs on rolling dice

Tears:

All of the good songs from long yonder days
All of the new songs have taken their place
So long
So wrong

Where is The Weapon, and the Camera Eye
Neil's new drum solo makes me want to cry
For mee-eeeeee
Chance to pee-eeeee

What would make me happy?
Songs that were recorded in the past
The new ones are crappy
Ghost of a chance will leave.... your fans aghast

A lifetime of music, perfection we seek
I listened to Snakes and my body felt weak
For you
No more Xanadu

What would make me happy?
Songs that were recorded in the past
The new ones are crappy
Ghost of a chance will leave.... your fans aghast
The new songs are an abomination

Freewill

Fans who pose and think that Rush
Has something left perchance
An album full of horrors
Sure to put you in a trance

A forum of playthings
We carp on what mings
New songs that we greatly receive
The words aren’t aligned
And the tunes are maligned
Maybe better to stop we perceive

You can choose to go and hide
And throw out all your toys
While the boo boys who deride
Just make a lot of noise

You can choose  from real ale beers
And curries that can fill
I will watch the show and fear
Nine song’s  overkill

There are songs that stink  and been recorded by this band
The retards went  and bought them
Now they’re caught in no man’s land..

It’s all preordained
They go to great pains
To comment on songs which they rate
Sicked in the plate
You can pray for its place
On the grass verge near the A38

Most of us
Are cells of awareness
Impatient for front row seats
Drum solo offends
Uncertain when it ends
On a  hunt for songs
That’s hard to beat
