Took a day trip by car from Dubrovnik in Croatia to Kotor in Montenegro. Great spectacular drive around the bay of Kotor where the mountains meet the sea. If I had more time I would love to explore inland Montenegro and the Balkans in general.

Nice, I've been to Kotor a few times. Will be back there myself the week after next.

Here's a shot of Kotor from a road around the mountains; you may well have been on the same road.

One place in Monte where you can get spectacular views is the mausoleum of Petar II at Lovcen, right up in the mountain tops. You can see Albania from there on a good day.

Yes that was the route i drove, didn't manage to climb the vertical defensive walls which it looks like you did.

Our cruise ship Oceana, parked up in Kotor bay last week.

Super..what other stops did you make?

Venice, Split, Zadar and Malta. I wasn't that keen on Zadar, it was OK but nothing really interesting. Split is a really nice place. Venice I'd been to before but not for 46 years (!) so that was a bit sentimental. Malta is quite distinctive but we didn't have a lot of time there.

I honestly prefer the sea days on cruises.
