I'm not much of a guitarist but I  have used Nashville tuning.  Basically you restring the guitar with the thin strings from a 12 string acoustic.  Gives a nice bright sound.

Get Wakeman in on keys.

Get Collins in to produce - and ensure a comfortable key for the vocals.  ::)
