Altered Carbon
« on: January 26, 2018, 21:35:55 PM »
I loved reading the book a few years ago, and might have to get a Netflix trial to watch this 8 part series on Netflix next month.
Standing in the shadows, hiding from the light
Reach out in the darkness, and hold on for your life
All the fear of the future, all the emptiness inside
When the moment of truth arrives, hey, you can run but you can't hide

3 episodes in and it is very good so far.  Turns out it is 10 episodes not 8. Even better.

Just over half way through and very pleased with this so far.

Glad to see that series 2 has had the green light already.

This could be another series (like Doctor Who) where the lead character (Takeshi Kovacs) could be played by different actors.  He certainly inhabits different sleeves (host bodies) in the books.

This show was right up my street and I liked how it didn't pan out as I was thinking it would plus it had excellent performances from all the actors involved, have got the next two books to read when I go away on holiday at the end of the month.

Good to read that we'll get a 2nd season aswell.

Which books have you read?
I've read Altered Carbon and Broken Angels so far.

One episode to go, and I don't want it to end. Simply marvellous.

Read Broken Angels on holiday as I mentioned above, mmmm its nothing like Altered Carbon and i'd be astonished if NetFlix make this into the 2nd season of Altered Carbon.

But I really enjoyed the book as a sci-fi story with an interesting take on how we are on these planets now, definitely more of a film than a series. Don't want to give away any spoilers and I am looking forward to reading the 3rd book.

I read Broken Angels about a year ago, and I agree - it is very different from Altered Carbon.

I've still got the 3rd to read yet and Morgan has clearly said he won't do any more Kovacs books.

Still so few people have seen this? Would like to know what people think on here who haven't read the book.

If you were disappointed with the Blade Runner sequel - I really think you should try this. Maybe I am biased as I liked the book so much but that doesn't always go in the favour of the adaptation- for instance Ready Player One. Brilliant book - the film not so much.
