New Arctic Monkeys

Holy feck, this is dividing opinion.  Me?  Love it.  Probably the most daring record by a mainstream successful rock band since ‘Kid A’.  Completely unrecognisable from anything they’ve done before.  They are really one of the all time great rock bands, I think - and this record confirms that.

I mentioned elsewhere that this is what must have been like listening to Bowie’s Young Americans in the 70’s.  They really have ‘done a Bowie’

Is it too early to proclaim an album of the year.  Utterly, utterly brilliant.  That’s 6 amazing records on the bounce.

Named By The Sun - Deathcap

Wonderful debut EP from instrumental quartet paying homage to twin-guitar southern-tinged rawk from the 70s. FFO Grand Funk, Mountain, Cactus, James Gang (Bolin era) etc.

After a weekend of cycling into the wind left me without one, today I have been mainly listening to the vinyl reissue of Pink Floyd's Pulse.
