Would that be the complete show from which the 3rd disc of Different Stages was compiled? It says it's only "34 minutes of unreleased material"  ???
If that's the case it's not enough for me. It's OK but Geddy had a stinking cold which affects his vocals quite markedly that night.

Aye. 2112, Closer To The Heart, Lakeside Park and the drum solo were missed off of Different Stages disc 3.

Definitely not enough to even tempt me to ask for it for Xmas this time...

So frustrating.  Such a lazy reissue.

They really need to appoint someone to research and sift through whatever they have in the archives and make these releases special for the fans.

Problem is they say there is nothing in the archives. I assume the tracks from the Odeon show were carefully selected for Different Stages so what we have here is another exercise in barrel-scraping. Seems a case of diminishing returns for fans that can be persuaded to buy the same music over and over again - disappointing.

I don't believe for a second that there's nothing in the archives.  They just can't be arsed to go through it and polish it up for commercial release, so instead they chuck some tat in a box, get Symey to get his photoshop out and give us a couple of tracks from a show that they released 20 years ago.

IIRC to fit the show on one CD they had to lose some tracks. 2112 and Closer were already on the album from 1997 so they were omitted. And Geddy hated his singing on Lakeside Park, I guess some fans will get to judge that soon...

According to Terry Brown who clearly stated this in his talk at Eucon last weekend - there is no material in the archives, nothing, nada. :(

There is no unreleased studio stuff in the archives but as Geddy's Brother has stated over the years and Terry confirmed at EUCON there are loads of live shows - they recorded in some form or another many many shows of the years - I guess it just depends when someone decides to sit down and sift through it all. They obviously chose this show as it was from the AFTK tour and the tin was already open so to speak from the Different Stages Release. It will be good to get the rest of the show but agree it does show a degree of laziness to dig into the same recording.
Since Anthem sold the rights to the material I am not sure who now ultimately decides these things and if the band have any kind of control.

I am still waiting for someone to dig out a full CoS Tour Show - even the limited boots of that tour are not good quality or complete so a decent release from this era would be fantastic - maybe they'll do that in 2020 for the 45th Anniversary.

Yes that definitely lowered the bar somewhat!
