More sad news from the US. Heart attack at 66 years of age.  :(

Legend in my own Mind

Seems he might not actually have died. Fingers crossed for him.

He wasn't breathing when he was found - might be a blessing if he has passed...as awful as that sounds.  Huge talent, sad news.
Anger is a gift.

Yes - media last night was all over the place - sadly he has died - glad I got to see him and his band in Hyde Park back in the Summer - RIP Tom.

Sad loss of a truly great artist.

My band will knock out Running Down A Dream in tribute at our gig on Saturday night.

Sad news. Even though I never actually liked his stuff, it still feels like a bit of the world as I knew and understood it has flaked off.

Ditto. Great memories of the Hyde Park show - Learning to Fly was very poignant that night, seems even more so now. Puts Neil's retirement in perspective. Very sad.

The world has lost a true musical legend.
Fulfilled a lifelong ambition by seeing Tom and the Heartbreakers in Dublin 5 years ago,
my 50th birthday present to myself. The gig more than surpassed 35 years of expectation,
it was terrific!

I travelled from Scotland to the Cork gig that tour. Before the gig, we found a pub showing the Euro 2012 opening game that also served made-to-order pizzas.
A great day!

Had no idea he was a heroin addict in the 90s. A complete surprise to me as that period was missed out of the excellent (4 hour) Peter Bogdanovich documentary, Runnin' Down A Dream.

Strange that having avoided that particular cliche for so long, he should succumb in his fifties. I guess that would go some way to explaining a weakened heart. Shame we've lost an artist that was still making good music. RIP
