Leyton Orient 0-3 FC Halifax Town
Tue 12th Sep 2017

Nobody saw this one coming, as The Shaymen marked the first of two consecutive long trips down to Greater London with a stunning victory.

Town were ahead after only five minutes when Adam Morgan lashed in an unstoppable volley on the turn, and the lead was doubled on the half hour when a free kick into the box was headed in by 6'7" striker Tom Denton.

As expected, we had to weather a storm at times to protect the lead but a memorable win for 150 committed travelling fans was effectively sealed with 15 minutes remaining as Matty Kosylo calmly stroked home a stonewall penalty.

This would have put The Shaymen top had not Sutton scored in added time, but 2nd spot in the table made for a very pleasant reward for those who were able to make the midweek 400-mile round trip.

I'll tell you what mate, they both get a raw deal from the refs.  It's apparently okay for centre backs to hold, shove, climb, rugby tackle and practically assault big, tall strikers, but as soon as they give something back they're penalised.  And it's simply because they're taller.  It seems 9 refs out of 10 apply this absolutely infuriating double standard.

Our man Tom Denton is currently serving a three match suspension after his marker went down holding his face and completely con the ref into showing a red card.  But Dents is one of the least dirtiest players you could find.

Does me head in.  >:(
