I have read on Facebook on a vinyl community page that Record Store Day 2017 will have some sort of vinyl release by Rush.

I have no idea what song(s) is being released nor any details about the format (7"/10"/12"/pic disc/coloured vinyl) but I have it on good authority that it's gonna be pretty cool though.

Want that, think it'll be easy enough to pick up after he rush (ho-ho) ends.

I want the Bowie stuff too, but can't be arsed to queue.  Although its the day after I get back from Japan so my body clock might be fecked enough for it not to be so difficult..

Interesting artwork. The cork being sucked back into the bottle? The end of the band? Hmmmm.....

Yes - I thought the artwork was rather odd, surprised it was Hugh Syme tbh - could have done something a bit better in my opinion.

Maybe its just me, but my first thought was 'butt plug'.....

Beware the term "audiophile 180g" - it means nothing special. My guess is that it will be the standard LP versions of these two tracks. Unless new master pressings are made with Cygnus X-1 Book 1 being cut at a different groove pitch (with Book II this will not be possible due to track length) or Book II being started on side 1 of the disc allowing for a more dynamic pressing, the audio quality is unlikely to better the originals. A 'half-speed' mastered disc would also provide sonic improvement but it's unlikely any company would go to such lengths for what is, essentially, a limited edition novelty.

The artwork appears to reference Geddy's hobby of consuming fine wine.

You can always buy the CDs anyway; I'd hope no-one buys these for audio quality.

As far as the artwork goes: "putting a cork in it" - signifying the end of the band? Possibly.

Anybody have any joy sourcing this release?
Nipped in to my local record shop earlier but they had long since sold out...

Went into my local store at lunchtime (couldnt be arsed with queuing) and got nearly everything I wanted...this Rush 12", Bowie Cracked Actor, Gem promo and the No Plan EP, Diana Ross' 'Diana' on Pink Vinyl produced by Nile Rogers?Bernard Edwards on Pink Vinyl (its brilliant), Marillion 'Fear' gold vinyl, Sex Pistols Bollocks sessions, U2 Red Hill Mining Town, Pink Floyd 'Interstellar' 12"...

Wanted the Jimmy Page/Black Crowes 10" but it had sold out, as had Laura Marling...very pleased.

I bought it and proceeded to play it on my friend's high-end system. It was glorious - until near the end of Book II when it started...well, I don't know if skipping is the right word, but I guess it is. That or it got stuck in a groove. We tried it again and the same thing happened. Lot of crackling in that section too. Possibly a manufacturing error. Did anyone else have this problem?
Try your luck with me
