I've been watching the cycling this evening, quite exciting I must admit.
Unlike the Sevens Final - unless you're a Fijian....
Actually the Fijians are on a different level, you can't begrudge them a medal for this :)

Our guy Joshua Buatsi did well in the boxing yesterday knocking out his opponent in the third round, he was already winning on points but went in for the kill - ref should have stopped it after he knocked him down the first time, a few seconds later he was down again ( ref should have really stopped it here ) but he was counted up and bang down for the third time - he did make it back to his feet but didn't really know what day it was. Certainly beats the other matches I  have seen where they seem to hug each other for most of the rounds.

The 3 punch combo that finished the bout was brilliant.

Looks an interesting prospect

Silver was overachieving for us and I'm pleased that Fiji won the gold (if it wasn't us).  They were the best team in the tournament and were one of the few teams to actually try and play proper sevens, offloading and keeping the ball alive. Too many teams (including us) were playing mini 15's, looking to go to ground, set up rucks and control the breakdown like in full scale rugby.

The Team  Pursuit final was a bit squeaky bum, but  well done to the GB team.
Well done to our rowers too. Up to 3rd in the medals table!

I thought it was astonishing. The timing and co-ordination on top of the sheer athletic effort makes it quite a phenomenal spectacle.

I must admit I enjoyed watching the British girl in the women's Kierin final. She got stuck at the back and it looked like she'd left it too late. She managed a stunning burst of power to take second and almost win it.
You can check out any time you like but you can never leave!

Anyone have a feel for a reasonable expectation for the total Team GB medal tally by the end of the Games? Just wondering if equalling the 2008 performance is likely or feasible (47 medals, 19 golds, 13 silver).

Perhaps it's not a meaningful comparison in some ways (Russians not taking part this time for example, a slightly different set of sports, different conditions etc etc) but it would be nice to see a bit of improvement on paper at least.

Yep, he blew it on the elimination race yesterday though by getting boxed and then trying for a gap that wasn't there....

Another gold for fecking horse dancing as well....wtf is that all about ?

Well done to the Hammer thrower Sophie Hitchen for a fantastic bronze in a "proper" sport

Didn't seem that happy about it and quite rightly; it is a loser's medal after all. Strangely inarticulate bloke though, I must say.

I love the knockout round of the Omnium but that 160 lap race is bizarre - the rules and tactics are confoundingly counter-intuitive.
