And apparently it was the brexit campaigners who were misleading everyone...

smoke and mirrors. LLoyds bank blaming Brexit for laying off 300o staff, what about the 9000 or so they have laid off in the last year then before Brexit?

Good point. They're just trying to deflect a bit of flak and using the situation to restructure the business into something more suited to the times (very few people have a need to visit a branch these days). Would have happened with or without Brexit.

Make £2.5bn profit in a year...lay off thousands of staff.

Makes perfect sense.

"Guardian Media Group hit with record £173m loss"

We're leaving the EU, the Labour Party is dying and the Guardian is going down the toilet where it belongs. What a lovely time to be alive.

Matt2112

Yes, The Guardian has turned into a startling regressive left shadow of its former self.   It's only worth visiting online to witness the comprehensive dismantlings the vast majority of its articles are subject to below the line.

Terrible time to be a 'leftie'

A bit of a volte face from BoE chief  Mark Carney, who now says of Brexit "the UK can handle it". Scaremongering bullshitter  ::)

So the UK economy is going into decline because of project fear.  Bit like being warned not to jump off a cliff, doing so anyway, then believing that the broken limbs etc were caused by the warnings.

Most likely he is trying not to inflame the Brexit disaster. Pound has slumped , interest rates at an historical low, recruitment down, investments on hold, lack of skilled negotiators and we haven't even left Europe yet. Anyone hear of any benefits of the decision yet?
Everybody's got to evalate from the norm.

If the Guardian were to fail, that would be a true tragedy.  With the Independent confined to an online version there would be no printed media that wasn't owned by a right wing oligarch. With Labour in such a mess and the Lib Dems losing ground (the inevitable result of a smaller party sharing power) not to mention the rise of UKIP,  The UK is slowly losing it's soul, it's humanity, it's decency.  Great pity. I'm hoping its a case of never so dark than before the dawn.

The Guardian has already failed, having left behind the pragmatic centrist left long ago, and its inexorable demise down a regressive, self-loathing black hole of its own making is its just deserts.
