And if all else fails, just show a blind disregard for the facts
The new songs are an abomination

Muppet

Maybe just maybe they'll appear at some outdoor festivals in the next few years.  No tour, just jet in, jet out for the gig

I hate outdoor festivals but if this was all I had, I would go

When Neil went through all his troubles, I really didn't think we'd see them over here again.  I was proved wrong then so I don't think a bit of optimism is that misplaced.

Time will tell anyway
You can check out any time you like but you can never leave!

Fishy

well if Lee has a house in london then maybe he could get some players together and do a performance of his solo album..?

sounds like he is the only one capable of playing music very shortly, the other two are crocked

I would be up for that  :D

I know many fans here are less than enamoured of the first set, but I would have liked to have seen this one for the visuals alone - awesome!

The Fish and I have been moved (nearly to tears) to put pen to paper, and feel that a fitting tribute to todays probable announcement is parody......

A double A side release, starting with Red Sector A:

All of us in Europe feel deprived
SRO have phoned Stu and said that they wont play live

None of us wanted this day
Power Trio shuffling away
Shouting fans all poking fun
United States the lucky ones

I click on Ticketmaster til my fingers bleed
A corporate ticket deal
With good seats and a meal
Hoping that the dollar will increase
Hoping that tomorrow I wont get fleeced!

Witness my insanity
Thought they would see my  city
Days and weeks and months went by
Didn't need to worry
Now need to cry!

I hear the sound of wailing from the fans irate
Why on earth wont they come here?
Are the touring costs too dear?
For the fans not living stateside, it's too late
But I must fly to L.A I JUST CANT WAIT!!!!

Are we the last to see them live?
And without Rush how on earth will I survive?
The new songs are an abomination

Somebody email that to SRO.  Utter genius.
Anger is a gift.

It's a bit weird to think that the last song played live by Neil (with Rush) could be one that he had nothing to do with, composition wise  :o

and finishing where it all started with The Trees

There is unrest at the Forum
Let's just hope they don't play Freeze
This could be the very last night
Or d'y think it's just a tease

The trouble with this concert
And we think it could be right
Count the years it's over forty
Now it's time to dim the lights
All this talk that we've been hearing
Folks are going to feel dismayed
And they wonder if this concert
Is the end of the parade ?

They'll be trouble at the Forum
And already Peart has fled
No more endless tour depression
He's back home for ten in bed

So forget about reunion
Half the band are on last rites
We're old and not too speedy"
Now it's time to say Goodnight
And you do get the impression
Playing live time to withdraw
Time to realise no sequel
And take, it on, the jaw
From the Land of Honest Men.

Has Cockwork Angles been thoroughly parodised [sic] yet?

All things come to an end, and they could have come to an end in the late 90s or even the late 80s.
So long Rush and thanks for the 70s  ;D
