Final Night of the Tour
« on: August 05, 2013, 02:08:57 AM »
...is tonight in Kansas City.

Always a melancholy moment when you hear the tour is ending (possibly not for the band though).

I wonder how long til the machine is fired up again?...

It does seem an odd date to end the tour and rather early in the summer. Given that there is still nearly all of August and cetainly the first couple of weeks in September when the weather in the US is suitable for the type of outside concerts they do over there.

Some people might say this is evidence that there is going to be a R40 type tour in 2014   ::)

I think they've confirmed theyre taking 2 years off.

I know they're due a welcome break off, but 2 years seems quite alot - I'd get bored.  And of course, they're not getting any younger and the de$ire to see classic rock bands seems to be in$atiable.

Quite a few of the mega successful bands take 4 to 5 years between albums and touring cycles. They each have lots if interests and hobbies to keep them amused.  I think Rush have overexposed themselves a little and, as you suggest, they have a punishing show/touring schedule for guys in their sixties. The kids and grandkids are growing up fast too. 2 years doesn't seem excessive. No doubt there will be 'product' released in the meantime to keep the pension pots topped up.

I think by 2 years off they mean no more gigs til 2015 rather than 2 complete years off.

If they go out again my prediction is for another retrospective tour like the Time Machine Tour, with a couple of new songs being aired. I also think they'll keep the string section...

I hope they keep the string section.  Particularly the one with the tight pants.

Spot on. At Manchester he said "we've got about a million songs..." It was nowhere near a million. That's false advertising.

I don't think you'd be advised to litigate as you had already procured your ticket by that point and will therefore be unable to prove that you were induced into doing so by the aforementioned statement.
