The snooker thread
« on: January 18, 2013, 15:53:47 PM »
Not that much interest in the game on here, but thought I'd start a general snooker thread for those of us who do like it. Been enjoying watching The masters this week, some good, and close matches. Just watched Dott go 4-1 up against Trump in a best of 11 QF. Now although it's a case of a Scot beating an English player, I actually don't mind as there's something about Trump that I dislike, and I can't quite put my finger on it. His hair doesn't help I suppose.

Dott ended up beating Trump, the tournament favourite 6-1.
The game of snooker seems to be off the radar slightly despite the best attempts from Frank Warren to raise the profile.

I wonder what could be done to change this?

Trump is brilliant but he cant do the tactics stuff, he's an out and out potter.
He tried to be a wee bit clever today against wee Dott and got thumped 6-1.

I've got a match tonight in my local league at 7.30 , should be a toughie as the guy hit a 103 against me last time....

Robertson v Selby should be a good final today, but I won't see any of the evening session as I'm at work from 6pm-6am.

I'll be able to watch tonight now, work is cancelled as our line is down. Selby 5-3 up, but Robertson did well to come back, as it was 5-1.

Selby took the title 10-6 in a match that never really lived up to its billing, but was still decent enough viewing.

Despite being in & out of the game, Ronnie O'Sullivan is 6/1 to win at the Crucible.
Not an attractive price.
Who will take the honours this year?

If he looks like losing to anyone, he'll probably just walk off like he has done before. Selby will take some stopping, and I might have a couple of quid on Bingham as a decent outsider.

Ah hope he stays away tbh....git

Selby will be hard to beat and Bingham is a great shout for an outsider as you said Rob...he is the form player but just needs to be slightly more aggressive at times.

On a personal note , played a tie on a match table last night with incredible lighting and a heated table.Quite an experience.
The speed of the table was incredible....loved it

My mate at work went to watch John Higgins at a small club just 2 miles from me a couple of weeks ago Gordon, tickets were £20. He won all ten frames and knocked 4 centuries in. I watched him in the Welsh open 2 days later, and he was awful!
