Intrepid is a good way to spend a few hours, although the day I went the shuttle was in for repairs which was a shame.

Just had a couple of friends stay with us for two nights, they had their 11-yo with them so decided to do the Bronx Zoo, always fun. They've gone off to see some family in Pennsylvania but coming back for a night next Monday, might finally do the Empire State Building.

Some photos have just been released from One World Trade Center. Going to be the tallest building in the city: http://gothamist.com/2013/04/02/photos_from_the_top_of_one_world_tr.php#photo-1

I'd definitely recommend a trip to the uss intrepid , if you have an interest in warplanes etc , great thing to see .. Oh and there's a space shuttle and Concorde there too

We went there on our first day, unfortunately the space shuttle was closed due to damage from the hurricane....................the storm not the plane.

I hadn't been up the empire state building until last night, was saving it for when some friends were visiting. It really is quite impressive up there.

It was one of those moments where you're aware that it could be a huge disappointment but fortunately, for me anyway, it was, as the young 'uns say, awesome.

The Brooklyn Bridge gets all the love but I adore the harsh steel look of the Manhattan bridge.

Walked about 15 miles in Brooklyn today (from our place up to the bridges and back with a few stops in between), a really great day.

I was very taken with NYC, much more than I thought I would be....such incredible architecture and so diverse communities across the Boroughs and very much distinctive and yet still very much a part of New York....traffic is diabolical though!

That's why you walk or take the subway :)

I didn't even realise I could see One World Trade Center from my apartment!

My son, Brad and his girlfriend booked up to go to New York yesterday on December 18th for 4 nights. They're stopping at a hotel called The New Yorker.

Just next to Madison Square Gardens and Penn Station I think mate, Manhattan at Christmas can be quite special

I think it's probably pretty special all year around.

Last went in 2000.  Definitely want to go again with the family, although I am a tad curious at how things will be at the airport on arrival....
