Had to say goodbye to our beloved springer spaniel, Bramble. The vets put her peacefully to rest at home this morning. She was nearly thirteen but was suffering with arthritis so it was unfair to keep her going on lots of painkillers. Tough decision. Heartbroken :'(

Very sorry to hear that mate, I know how attached we get to our dogs.

Found out yesterday that John Eadie, keyboard player in RUSH tribute band, Clockwork Angel's, had passed away at the age of 47. He suffered a heart attack. I was watching John perform with the Angels just a few weeks ago at EUCON, where I had saw him for the last few years. I never actually had a conversation with John, but we always spoke, and he usually had a smile on his face. It's terribly tragic news, and I really feel for John's family, and his band members, who were so close. It just makes me realise how lucky I was to survive my heart attack earlier this year. RIP John, you will be missed x.

Normally I phone my old dad up on a Friday evening. He phoned me today. "Bad news" he said. I assumed it would be related to his health, not an unexpected thing at his age.

But no, last night he said seen police cars and an emergency ambulance on his road and today his neighbour phoned him to say her son had hung himself.

I'd known him over 50 years as his family and mine moved in at the same time and he was just a bit younger than me. I only saw him on Christmas day as we partook in the ritual of going round for a drink. He'd been living their a few years after splitting with his wife, but was always chatty and this Christmas we had a good talk about cycling. Now this. His 80 year old dad had to cut him down.

Not a lot gets to me. This has. Totally unexpected.

Tragic.  Can't imagine confronting a scenario like that.  Literally doesn't bear thinking about.

This will take a good while to sink in.  :(

Hearing the terribly sad news of Neil Peart passing away last night, and today we had to take our cat to the vet and he needed to be put down. Lots of red eyes the last few hours.
