Richard Matheson
« on: November 06, 2009, 10:30:39 AM »
I just finished reading I Am Legend, a very short book (150-odd pages) so it was finished in a few hours but I loved Matheson's writing style and the tone of the book.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend where to go next?

I don't know so much about the casting of Smith, I think the script was a bigger problem.

There hasn't been a decent movie from this book, Omega Man is equally awful.

Have yet to pick up another Matheson book but still want to.

So he writes as well as making chicken-based foodstuffs? :P

Just finished The Shrinking Man which I also enjoyed immensely :) don't think I've ever seen the 1957 film (for which Matheson wrote the screenplay).

Sad to read that he died today, I Am Legend and The Shrinking Man are both fabulous.

The film version of The Shrinking Man (entitled The Incredible Shrinking Man) is a great classic sci-fi film with more than a bit of thought powering through it. The scene where he fights a basement spider in particular was a great memory from my movie watching formative years.
