Latest distraction was REM on Tuesday, and a great show it was. I got to see Peter Buck briefly before the gig and shook Mike Mills' hand as well, which was nice. Some early material mixed well with the newer stuff (they did 4 songs in a row from Fables of the Reconstruction, great record!), a couple of new songs that sounded Document-era in style. So that could be good.

Went into the HMV sale today, same old stuff for sale really but finally managed to pick up a copy of Nine Inch Nails' "The Downward Spiral", also bought Tim Buckley's "Happy Sad" album and a couple of Frank Zappa compilations to go with my "Strictly Commercial" album I picked up 6 months ago.

As well as things being pretty bad in general at the moment, this time of year is always hard for me......you'll all laugh at this I'm sure, but I'm absolutely terrified of moths

Hello again

I went up to Anfield today to watch Liverpool Vs Valencia in a friendly. I'm no Liverpool fan but my Uncle is and I thought it might be nice to watch some premiership players for a change. Valencia won 2-0 btw. Also met a couple of friends up there who I'd either not physically met before or not seen in some time so that was good.

Oxford off to a winning start as well with an excellent 1-0 away win at Lincoln.

My next compilation should be hitting the shelves early next week.

On the playlist:

Evanescence - Fallen
Del Amitri - Del Amitri (just got the new remastered version with 4 bonus tracks)
Bass Communion - II
Smashing Pumpins - Best of

And we're back (again!). Stewart and I are both confident that we're at this home for the long-run now, let's hope so!

Anyway, I went to the V Festival up in staffs on Saturday:

Got there in decent time, first band we say were Spearhead, who I did enjoy, kind of hip-hop/rock band with a political message in almost all their songs, certainly had the crowd up for it.

Next up were Shack who were a bit one-dimensional and, well, pants! Scouse band who offered nothing really. These two bands were on the NME stage we would visit again later.

Next up was what I had been waiting for since the tickets arrived, PJ Harvey, who was stunning (musically and visually

Just watched the ITV coverage, Chris.  The Chilis were actually quite good .. agree about Polly Harvey (they showed Dress), that little white .. er, dress showed off her legs a treat.

But they didn't show the Coral, sadly.

I'm sure they sounded fine taken off the soundboard, but in the audience it was terrible. Shame...... at least I've seen them before and know what it should sound like.

[I recorded it so I'll grab some off the DVD when it's finalised - Slim]

Another week since an update tut-tut......

Was my Gran's birthday today so went over for a meal.

Footy - Another point for Oxford, still undefeated, hopefully get a good result against Swansea tomorrow (first match I''ve managed to get to since the league started!).

I went to see Beck at Brixton Academy on Wednesday, first time I've seen him and he put on a great show. He's a superb performer and the concert was suitably weird for an artist of his ilk.

Eucon keeps getting closer and closer  :o :o

On the playlist:

Tim Buckley - Happy/Sad
Electric Six - Fire
REM - Murmur
Bass Communion - I
Bass Communion - II
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Genesis - Archive set 1967 - 1975 (the live Lamb set sounds fab)

Made my full league debut today for the pub side I've joined..... and scored  ;D only problem is we only had 10 people turn up  >:( I played centre mid which was tough playing with 10 men. I put us 1-0 up just before half time, then we went 1-2 down and finally 3-2 up, then they scored with the last touch of the game, we were robbed  :'( :'(

Anyway, apart from that, went to the Oxford - Masfield game, boring 1-1 draw unfortunately.

Booked myself up accomodation for the convention. Looking forward to it now!

Apart from that not much, ordered myself a PC which should arrive next week. Will be sorting myself out some flights to the US for December which I'm completely nervous and excited about.

On the playlist:
Adom - Idiot Savant
Monster Magnet - Powertrip

and some other stuff I can't remember

Right, after an invasion into my diary I'll get things back on track  ;)

It's weird at the moment, work is shit and my car is fecked (worst thing I've EVER bought ::)), but I've never felt happier :o

Off to see Radiohead tomorrow, then Muse on Thursday followed by Porcupine Tree on Sunday. So a busy week but I like to keep myself busy  8) then the only remaining gig of the year (I think) is The A.M. in Oxford on the 9th, The A.M. consist of former band mates of Jeff Buckley and are well worth a listen (though don't expect many comparisons to Jeff in the music). Because the car is shagged, travelling to and from these 3 gigs will be a right pain, all 3 are in London, which is fine but it's getting back home that's the problem, a taxi back from Oxford to Bicester looks my only option  :-[

And then we're in December  :o ;D  :o 8) which is a very important month for me, probably the most important month of my life  :o

What else? Hmmm, can't remember.....

On the playlist... again too much to remember but includes...

The A.M. - The A.M.
Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
Jeff Buckley - Mystery White Boy
Transatlantic - Live in Europe
The Zombies - Odessey Oracle
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Dream Theater - Train of Thought
Rush - By-Tor's Battle V 2.01
Mark Kozelek - White Christmas Live
Catherine Wheel - Adam & Eve
Porcupine Tree - Coma Divine
Grateful Dead - Live/Dead
REM - In Time (2CD version)

16...

And then we're in December
Standing in the shadows, hiding from the light
Reach out in the darkness, and hold on for your life
All the fear of the future, all the emptiness inside
When the moment of truth arrives, hey, you can run but you can't hide

Well this will be my last entry until the 22nd at least I would imagine. I'm off on holiday tomorrow ;D I can't believe it's finally come around, it's felt like forever (21 years I guess ::)). I've had this booked since early September and have been counting the days since.

I'm amazed at the amount of pm's/emails, posts I've had from members on the site wishing my a happy holiday, so thanks to all of you. The people on this site continue to amaze me, almost brings a tear to my eye
