Nada Surf were once again excellent, a great setlist and much changed since the last gig. Sound wasn't that great though, a bit too much bass guitar (this coming from a bassist!) and not enough guitar, bit like Exit...Stage Left really  :P

Hmmm, I still have "the power" back at home PC, not at work.

Just got back from seeing Supergrass at Sheps Bush Empire, ok so they aren't in my top 20 bands (maybe 50!) but they put on a good show and were very tight, only criticsm would be that they sound exactly like on the albums.

Bought the new Tori Amos album today so will have to spin that tomorrow.

On the playlist today:
Semisonic: All About Chemistry

Just been to watch "28 Days Later" at the cinema, I enjoyed it, probably a 3/5 but it was very interesting. I'm a huge fan of zombie films and this certainly added a twist to the style.

On the playlist today:
Mad At Gravity: Resonance
Rush: A Farewell to Kings
Foo Fighters: One by One
Neil Finn: One Nil

Aussie Floyd were awesome last night, great sound, light show, everything. A must-see for any Floyd fan.

They played a good selection of songs from the band's career, some of the early psycadaelic stuff right up to the Division Bell (which I must admit I've only played once or twice).

Weird to see a tribute band playing to theatre sized audiences as well.

What's this? My diary at the bottom of the page, the cheek of it.  ::)

Anyway, Tompy sent me an Aimee Mann compilation CD the other day and it's great stuff. Been listening to it for the last couple of days. Really good songwriting.

As well as that I've been on a Del Amitri trip again.

Going to see the Foo Fighters on Saturday and the Levellers on Sunday. I've got Monday off so I might try and catch up with some of my boots that I haven't had a chance to listen/watch.

On the playlist:
Aimee Mann: Tompy's compilation  ;D
Del Amitri: Waking Hours
Del Amitri: Change Everything
Del Amitri: Twisted
Del Amitri: Some Other Suckers Parade
Del Amitri: Can You Do Me Good
Foo Fighters: One by One

Went to see the Foo Fighters last night and they completely rocked! I was disappointed because I thought the support band was going to be Supergrass and turned out to be a band called Cave In, who were average at best but closed the set with a good cover of Led Zep's Dazed and Confused  :o

The Foo's played a great set although I'd have liked to have heard a bit more of the new material as I think it's their best stuff and certainly sounds better live. Watching the Foo's is almost like watching a prog band. They add loads of new bits to the songs and jam the songs out for long period. Dave Grohl is one of the best frontmen in recent history and an underrated guitarist as well IMO.

One of my mates pulled out at the last minute, I couldn't even give the ticket away at that short notice.  ::)

Going to see the Levellers in Reading tonight, haven't seen them in 4 years so that should be good. A great live band.

Back from seeing the Levellers in Reading, good gig, haven't seen them in 4 years.

Anyway, met another Rush fan! (Rush his fave band as well) Wore my murel VT tour shirt. Except this guy didn't have internet acess at all so TNMS is no use to him  :-/

So there are fans out there! 8)

PS I am ashamed of myself, but the convo was all to brief, had to be there  ::)

Just going through the finishing touches on my personal December compilation, some great stuff on it (as always).

Been listening to the new Audioslave album, first listen was ok but this mornings listen was a lot better. It has the huge chunky riffs that made Rage Against the Machine so popular and Chris Cornell is such a great singer it adds a lot to the songs. There's some mellower stuff on there that you wouldn't have heard on a RATM or S'Garden album (though maybe Cornell's solo album) as well.

Probably going to go and see the new Bond film tomorrow.

Need to check out how much it's going to cost me to go to the YYZ show in Bolton. Train fare from Oxford is gonna be pretty hefty on its own I'd imagine  :o I just don't want to miss out on what probably seems to me the first TNMS meet-up. ::)

On the playlist:
Audioslave: Audioslave
Red Hot Chili Peppers: By the Way
Beck: Sea Change
Hootie and the Blowfish: Musical Chairs

Had a great game of footy last night, last time this year but went off on a good one.

Just off out to go and see the Manic Street Preachers at Birmingham NEC. Didn't like the last two albums but this is a "greatest hits" tour so I'm hoping for some early stuff  :)

On the playlist today:
Rush - Counterparts
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way
Portishead - Dummy

Wow! Just got back from the Manics and I couldn't really have wished for a better setlist. Loads of the early stuff and hardly anything from the last two albums  ;D

They had a great sound and I certainly have a great respect for them as a live band.

Went to see Martyn Joseph last night at Milton Keynes (the stables) and he was fantastic! Just him and an acoustic guitar. Not the kind of stuff I usually listen to but he seems to do something different to other artists of the same ilk. I think I even cried during one of the songs. I can't see how someone like David Gray can sell loads of records but Martyn can't  ??? (ps - I'm NOT a fan of David Gray though, so maybe I'm biased).

I'm surprised, I've seen two Welsh bands/artists in the last two days and Reg hasn't said a word

OK.  I took the bait.

Don't know Martyn Joseph - didn't know he's Welsh.

The Manics - saw them as part of the Bon Jovi show in MK in, er, well, whatever, the Keep the Faith tour.  Wasn't impressed then.

I've got a couple of their albums, but don't listen to them any more.  But they ARE good.

I couldn't identify a Sterophonics or Catatonia track if it came up and bit me I'm afraid.

I'm not an avid pusher of Welsh music.  But Karnataka and Tom Jones?  Now you're talking.  Tom Jones live is a revelation.
Standing in the shadows, hiding from the light
Reach out in the darkness, and hold on for your life
All the fear of the future, all the emptiness inside
When the moment of truth arrives, hey, you can run but you can't hide

Just back from a days shopping in Edinburgh, a lot of roads blocked off because of the huge fires (causing millions worth of damage!!!).

Bought the following CD's:
Frank Zappa: Strictly Commercial
They Might be Giants: Dial-a-song (2 CD)
Redhouse Painters: Retrospective (2CD)
The Planets: Physical Graffiti (saw this band support Deep Purple in Feb).
King Crimson: In the Court of King Crimson
Bodycount: Bodycount

A word of advice, seeming as it's getting colder, "Don't eat the yellow snow"  ;D

The weather's been pretty good up here, I hear it's been snowing down south, not a speck of rain up here. I love the scenery and the people (so far  ;)) have been very nice as well. Loads of redheads up here as well, smashing.  :D

Bought a DVD player as well for a Christmas present for what people in the house represent the family (it's complicated!).

Don't really know what else to buy people, and it's getting closer to Christmas as well  :o ::)

Also been listening to a load of Loudon Wainwright III, don't know if anyone else is aware of him? Really good stuff.

FRIDAY THE 13TH CURSE STRIKES AGAIN!  :(

Had a good time in Scotland, I've just got back.

But.....

We had a car accident on the M6 coming back (just before Stoke), we're both OK, the car will be a write-off and I've got a couple of bruises and a sore neck (proper whiplash to come I'm sure) and I'm quite shook up. Still it could have been worse.
