Favourite fat guitar player?
« on: August 08, 2008, 10:32:48 AM »
Who's your favourite porky player, your top fat fretboard fondler?

BB King? Steve Hogarth? Leslie West?

Is there a weighty whammy-bar wangler you admire? A rotund rocker you're keen on, a stout Stratocaster plucker, a tubby Telecaster jockey? Or perhaps an overweight Ovation strummer? A roly-poly Rickenbacker picker?

Or is Lerxst your favourite portly power-chorder?

I imagine Hogarth wouldnt be overly impressed with being called fat, Rothery is a decent shout though

Dino Cazares from fear Factory and varius other bands is huge, and can play.

Gilmour is a bit tubby these days, although he is 73

The new songs are an abomination

Good shout on Gilmour...  not sure if you're referring to his weight but he was born on March 6 1946 making him  62....

Not my fav. but I would think Yngwie Malmsteen could be categorised as such these days. Apparently, he is trying to get his bodysize in line with his ego. I am not sure whether 1 human body would be enough then...

I get the impression that there are not very many fat favourite guitarists out there, a case of life imitating art Im afraid.

Just as there are very few succesful fat musicians, so there are very few fat succesful people generally

Wow, only yesterday as well - spooky. Never seen that forum before.

I actually had the idea for this thread last night while looking at a Marillion video on YouTube.

Completely off topic but I was a bit spooked seeing the pic of Steve Hogarth as I had a dream he was giving me an Indian head massage last night.     :o
Back on topic I think Rothery is top of the tubbies.

Wow, Jeff Berlin is a fat bugger these days. I saw him playing with John McLaughlin about 20 years ago at a jazz festival in Newcastle; he was reasonably slim then.
