The last one I bought new was Marty Friedman's solo disc, Music For Speeding. I was a bit disappointed... it was kind of samey, with no standout tracks.

Creed - Weathered
Recommended to my by someone on the internet. Voice sounds a lot like Eddie Vedder. Nice music.

Alabama 3 - Exile On Coldharbour Lane
My wife was looking for the title music of The Sopranos and found it on this disk. Very nice indeed. Sort of New York meets the southern states of the US...

Southern Culture on the Skids - Mojo Box
Nice southern US swamp music. Puts you in a good mood.

I think Weathered has a few great tracks, but I would have recommended Human Clay instead. It's much better. 8)

The band was recommended, not this specific album. But I will try to find that one too.

Norah Jones - Feels Like Home - bought it several weeks ago and I haven't really listened to anything else in the car at all.

I thought her first album was a little bland and boring, but this new one is absolutely gorgeous.

Talking of Johnny cash, Hurt is one of the most haunting, incredible songs I have ever heard and the video fair brings a tear to the eye

Yeah - I think Q have just voted it best promo.

Apparently Trent Reznor and Zack De La Rocha were reduced to tears when they saw it.  And they're pretty tough guys!  ;D

Bought a couple of CDs this morning, my first two new releases this year:

Joss Stone - The Soul Sessions. Got caught up in the hype and couldn't resist it. Saw her perform on CD:UK and thought it was nicely funky. On first play sounds good, but not as great as I hoped. I'll live with it for a few weeks, see where it takes me.

Harry Connick, Jr. - Only You. Saw him on Parkinson a few weeks ago. Thought his voice was terrific and he came accross like a bloody nice bloke. The album is very easy listening, but in a good way - very much a Sunday morning record. I could live inside his croon - warm, smokey, calming.

Analog Mellowing Out.

The first two are absolutely brilliant.
Don't know the other two, so cannot comment on them.

Oh dear,

perhaps inspired by the very metal Anvil thread elsewhere, on Saturday I parted good hard earned cash for The Best Heavy Metal Album in the World...Ever.

Now normally I would give compilations like this a very wide berth, but, encouraged by my young son, I took the plunge and now regret it. I should have read the cover more closely. Included are tracks by such metal legends as Tank, that Swedish bloke whose name I can't spell or pronounce (Ynweegie or something ?), and Megadeth. The final track is by none other than those gods of thunder, Nickelback.

What was I thinking of ?

Mister, can I have my money back, please ?
