Bass players : What make/model do you use?
« on: April 04, 2005, 17:34:00 PM »
I don't think this topic has been covered before so I thought I would start one.

I know there are a few bassists who post on TNMS and I was just curious as to what type you play.

Here's my main bass.

Trace Elliot T-Bass - 5 string - black

This is an active bass with 2 active pick-ups, a whole 2-octave fret-board (ie 24 frets) and green Sims LED lights along the top of the fret-board.

This bass cost me

Mexican Fender Precision Bass. It plays and sounds pretty good but I need new strings soon.

A Fender Jazz Bass, one of the Mexican models, a very solid, playable and dependable bass guitar. It came with 'wrong' tone & volume knobs though, so I changed them for a set of US Fender Jazz knobs. I bought it for recording. I don't play bass often, although I got it out a couple of weeks ago and was surprised by my virtuosity.

Can anyone tell me how to put images on the posts? I am fairly computer illiterate. Thanks.

These - but not all at once:

Left to right:
Ibanez SR800LE (with Hipshot Xtender) - my main gigging bass.
Ibanez SR800 fretless - as above only redder & less fretty.
Aria Pro RSB Deluxe 2 - my first "grown up" bass - needs a good wash!
Peavey C5 - Cheap & very lovely 5-string (which turned out to be a 4 string with a very long thumbrest - or was that just me?)
Hohner B2A - licensed Steinberger copy (wish I had a real one) and a great portable spare bass.
Ibanez EDA900 - Made of plastic, shaped like a blob of melted toffee, Piezo pickup and bright orange - the world's gayest bass?
Tokai B-135 Talbo - yes, it is made of metal.

And since I am now broke and cannot buy any more basses, I have had to resort to this:
