Board Games

With all the talk of Escape from Colditz, I was wondering if anyone remembers the game RISK? We used to play that all night and into the early morning. Sad, I know. ;D

Another good one.  I never got the hang of Diplomacy though.
Standing in the shadows, hiding from the light
Reach out in the darkness, and hold on for your life
All the fear of the future, all the emptiness inside
When the moment of truth arrives, hey, you can run but you can't hide

Still play Risk with ma mates every 8-10 weeks or so (total excuse for a beer swilling and spirit gurgling day).... just to keep in touch you understand ;)... but it  usually turns into a argument about somebody cheating, and disintegrates into a big mess with the  board getting belted :o ;D
Makes it all worth it. :)
My youngest son has Lord of the Rings Risk.... if your thinking about trying it  Topper, please dont.... REALLY boring

I was a Risk addict back in the day, my dad hated it, because I used to win all the time ;D I'll take Irkutsk from Kamchatka, I'll have to go and liberate the board.

Does anybody hear ever remember playing a game called Careers We used to play that all the time too, I've never known anybody else who's heard of it.

This was the 1957 version, like what we used to play.

I had this game in the Eighties though I didn't play it many times as I could never find enough people who wanted to play it. (Not exciting enough. I usually ended up playing Escape from Colditz, Risk or The Game Of Life)

Parker Brothers also brought out a version in 1990 called "Careers For Girls" which was listed as the most condescending game ever in a BoardGameGeek discussion thread  ;D You could aspire to the heady heightd of; School teacher, fashion designer or Supermum :-X ;D

Anyone remember Test Match? It was the cricket version of Subbuteo.

Very addictive. In order to put some weight one the bat, it was made to look like a vacuum cleaner.

Me, Mummy, Daddy, little bro and little sis, used to play careers every sunday night, before a session of three card brag. We led such an exciting life. ;D

I thought that Subbuteo Cricket was the cricket version of Subbuteo :-/

I used to thrash little bro at Subbuteo cricket, he just couldn't cope with my wickedly fast bowling to seven slips and two gullies ;D
