Moving Pictures - The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen. Sat 17th Jan 2015.

Had an absolute hoot last weekend with many of the Scottish TNMSers. Dods and Pamela put TRon up for the friday evening in glorious style and fed and watered us until we were well flubbered. :)

Saturday night we had an excellent pre-gig at The Wig bar in Aberdeen where they served the most sumptiously OTT burgers that fuelled us all up for the gig.

The gig itself I found to be a mixed bag. The venue was clean and modern with a very good sound. The band are a four piece with Geddy duties being split between a female vocalist/keyboard player and a male bass guitarist. The drummer in the band definitely got my "man of the match" award. Really tight and kept the energy of the whole show flowing with a good feel. Vocals were strong and clear with only the lower register proving a bit challenging but as Geddy isn't exactly Barry White vocally this wasn't much of an issue for the young lady singer. The straight ahead rockers like Passage To Bangkok, Bastille Day and Anthem were played confidently and with a great energy. Where things went a bit less successfully was in the more complex pieces like Jacob's Ladder, Xanadu and La Villa Strangiato. A lightness of touch and making the the guitar and keyboards actually sound like Rush being the missing ingredients. All in all though, a top evening's entertainment in really good company. It should also be mentioned that Gebs filmed the whole show so I imagine it's all up on Youtube by now.

After the gig most of us ended up in The Moorings rock bar down by the quay. There was a dreadful thrashy racket being played by some awful live band but thankfully they quit after a few minutes and the DJ took over playing a good mix of tunes. There was some strange dance shapes thrown and a good sing-a-long to Spirit of Radio by us lot. All good fun. Some decided to carry on in the bar back at the hotel to the wee small hours but I called it a night around 1.45 to rest my bludgeoned kidneys that were screaming at me "STOP!!!!!"

Thankyou Aberdeen and goodnight! :)

I've seen Dod's eating at home. I can confirm that he does indeed eat heartily there too. I believe the Scottish term for his condition is "whurrrrruuuummms". That or he has a hyperspace dimension gateway inside of him. ;) ;D
