I think it has a consistency that much of the solo and later PT stuff lacks
The new songs are an abomination

Yes, I think that is the key to its appeal for me too.

Captain Ron

I think Jonners is probably right about consistency on The Raven being key. THe experimentation is dialled back a bit compared to his earlier solo works in favour of more solid song writing although there are still many great proggy moments on it and Govan Guthrie's guitar work is a joy. That solo on Drive Home gives me goosebumps just thinking about it never mind listening to it!

Agreed. While I am sure the guys in PT are no slouches, he also has surrounded himself with a group who are right on top of their game, both in the studio and live

And, without trying to sound like a stuck record, you should all try out the demos disc. Its brilliant

I'm with you on that -  it's perfect. I've said it before, it reminds me of Alex's solo on The Garden..............only better.

Straight from Bookface. There must be something wrong with him, the longest track is only 13 minutes... ;)

New one available for pre order.
Don't know why the DVD and blu ray are both in the deluxe package.
Think a I'll go for the vinyl and cd.
The lenses inside of me that paint the world black. The pools of poison, the scarlet mist, that spill over into rage.

Pity there's no bluray and cd only option. Bluray for me. I can always download the flac and make a car audio solution from that. I'll wait until nearer the time to pre-order though as I am not fond of BS's take cash on order policy, especially coming up to Christmas.

A single (Hand Cannot Erase) is now available to buy on iTunes for £0.99. It's a lot more melodic than most of the stuff he's being doing for the last decade or so.
