ACtually it's that long since I did some baking, the old cake will be waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy better.

TNMS Cakes...what a good idea.....we could have little cakes with rush pictures on (edible paper ones).... ;D

I happened to have some double cream left over that I'm trying to use up, normally, I would have had the cake 'neat'.  Yes, tis a good recipe.  When I took the lid off my blender to check the toasted hazelnuts, the aroma was jaw-droppingly amazing.  And I didn't have 175g of choccie chips, so I chopped up some Belgian dark choc I had in the cupboard.

Got an absolute must from the library, the Golden Book of Baking. It's 3 inches thick and leafed in gold like an old bible and contains the most the most delicious recipes for cakes, cookies, doughs etc.

A Scottish colleague of mine just gave me a piece of "tablet" to try. It's the sweetest, sickliest thing I've ever tasted but I ate it to be polite :D
I just Googled the recipe to find out what the ingredients are, not exactly healthy eating!
1 teacup of milk
Large tin of condensed milk
900g of sugar
100g of butter

What is the deal lately with cupcakes? They're everywhere atm. I even saw a wedding "cake" that was just a load of cupcakes frosted lavishly in white with ribbony like decorations and silver and gold hundreds of thousands. They were loaded onto tiers so the overall shape was that of a traditional wedding cake. The bride and groom were even photographed "cutting" this "cake" even though there was no cake to cut. Still this would be a great cheap option for a budget wedding... hmmm..... :)
