I once saw Def Leppard do a gig at the Rhydycar Leisure Centre in Merthyr. No one believes me, don't ask me the year cos i'm not quite sure...81/82 ish!!

I saw them support AC/DC in 1979 I think for On Through the Night. Also likely saw loads of NWOBHM suporting bands such as Rainbow, Whitesnake etc back then. Odd that I don't remember any of them...

I do remember Vardis and Girlschool supporting Motorhead though at Deeside in 1980. And still have a mint poster from that gig somewhere.
Why isn't there a sarcasm font?

I certainly remember Vardis, and saw them along with White Spirit, Fist, Angelwitch, Saxon and a couple of others at Motorhead's Brain Damage Party at Stafford in 1980.

I used to work with John Roach, he played on the last the last FIST album, and toured with UFO (wankers apparently).
There was a band called Hellenbach on NEAT records that I rarther liked. There was a great song called Bandits Run.

Is it this one you're referring to?

Not quite. There's a link to it in that thread, but it's broken now (due to the forum software upgrade).

Wonder what little Kev Heybourne's up to these days?

I think someone mentioned that he was working a tree surgeon in one of the old NWOBHM threads.

I remember Samson supporting Rainbow in 1980. The only detail I remember is Bruce's odd habit of introducing songs with "One, Two, F*ckin' Hell!"

I remember seeing Samson support Gillan must have been about 1980, the only thing I remember is the twat Thunderstick in his cage, and Bruce Bruce introducing a song "This is a song about a man who hit young ladies on the head with a hammer, it's called Hammerhead"

...and of course the mighty Angel Witch - it feels like I saw them about 200 times.

Wonder what little Kev Heybourne's up to these days?

Angelwitch have reformed to support Orange Goblin at OG's Christmas Bash at The Underworld in Camden, this coming Saturday. If I can scrape the cash together, I hope to go. OG are a great band and very entertaining live.

Bloody hell! ;D Then again they have a habit of periodically re-forming & then not actually playing any gigs to speak of. I doubt this will be any different.
