Come on then, what do you think of 'A'?

Personally I love 'em. Good old Brit Rock. Loads of energy, banging guitars and great live shows - despite what Ace2112 might say...not many bands play great shows at festivals. ::)

Definitely a band that deserves to be bigger!! And they're massive Rush fans, so they can't be that bad!! ;D

Oh yeah, don't take any notice of the song Starbucks btw. Probably their worst track...

...and apologises to viewers that got all excited, thinking this was something far ruder!! Shame on you!! ::) :D

Never liked 'em.

Went to an A gig about 3 years ago to see Rival Schools who were supporting, a large chunk of the audience left before A went on, including me.

Nothing was a good song though.

Don't be daft Ace! Everyone has an opinion... :)

I think that festivals do have an odd effect on some bands though. I remember seeing 'Zodiac Mindwarp' at Reading years ago and they bombed! But only a few weeks before I saw them in London with some mates and they were brilliant! Maybe it was just one bad night, but I have read how some bands hate playing outdoors. I guess because of acoustic issues etc, but I can't really comment as I never played a gig outside with the band I was once in.

But don't worry mate, if you don't like them, then that's fine. We all can't like the same can we? ;)

I like them because they put a smile on my face. I find them to be a fun band and there can't be anything wrong with that can there...? :-/

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the gig at Manch Academy tonight - which is sold out btw - it should be a lot of fun! :)

They are huge Rush fans. They released a live album a few years ago called 'Exit...Stage Right' in homage of their favourite Canadians. They jammed the Cygnus X-1 riff before kicking into the encore, the very  wonderful 'Foghorn'. A recent single was called 'Rush Song'.

I've only got their debut album, 'How Ace Are Buildings!' Haven't heard it for a while, going to have to dig it out.

One of those bands that I feel I ought to like but never have really (Am I in the right thread  ;) ). I've got a couple of their singles but they always sounded like an average Terrorvision to me.

As some of you know, me & the girls went to see A last night at Manch Academy 2 and they were excellent. Support came from 'My Awesome Compilation' and 'Capdown'. To be honest neither support acts were anything special, but they sort of got everyone in the mood if you know what I mean? 'Capdown' are an english ska-punk rock band and were well weird! They're a mix of Madness and Dillinger Escape Plan(ish). Loads of Saxaphone and heavy riffs etc. Like I said, weird! :-/
'My Awesome Compilation' are more or less just like an other FFaF type band. Very average to be honest.

A, did a great set, playing all the favourites, such as, 'Nothing', 'Something's Going On', 'Going Down', 'Starbucks', 'Shut Yer Face', 'Pacific Ocean Blue', 'Turn It Up', 'Old Folks', 'I Love Lake Tahoe', 'Rush Song', 'Better Off With Him', 'The Art Of Making Sense', 'Wake Up' and 'Worst Thing That Can Happen', to name but a few. Jason (vocals) was in great form, really engaging with the crowd and having a fun time with everyone. But the best was still to come. After the show we met all of the band and had pictures taken with them etc etc and I got a home video of Giles (keyboards) playing 'Subdivisions' on an old organ that was left outside backstage. The band hung around with everyone for over an hour and were very friendly. The four of us must have spent half an hour talking with Jason & Giles. We talked Rush, in general and about the R30 tour. Jason couldnt get over the 'Fly By Night' shirt I was wearing, asking if he could buy it.
It seems that the band have really been feked over by their record company and things haven't been that easy for them in the last 18 months or so, barely making enough money to get by. I think this is terrible, as they derserve so much more... :(
(Basically Warners bought their old label 'London Records' and preceeded to sack everyone and refused to release their latest album 'Teen Dance Ordinance' until everything was reorganised, delaying the album by about 2 years!! Touring has been their only way of making money to live on until 'Teen...' came out. Not good!) :( >:(

I hope these guys go on to bigger things. They deserve it. :)

I'll try and post some pictures and that video asap!!

(BTW, I spoke to one of their roadcrew and he said they don't like playing outdoor gigs!! They had loads of trouble with their gear at Download this year apparently...plus no sound check)
