THE ALCHEMIST by PAULO COELHO

"To realize one's destiny is a person's only obligation."

This book was recomended to me by a friend.

Has anyone out there in TNMSLAND read it?
"Yes, actually my Dad's name was Billy Sheehan"

I'm inclined to say...of course. Have read some of his other work as well, I like it very much. I'd recommend 'the Road to Santiago' next Paul. It goes into detail about Coelho's journey prior to writing the Alchemist.

Somebody gave that to me a couple of years ago and said it was amazing, but I never got around to reading it. (or returning it for that matter :-()
Anger is a gift.

I have read it and, sorry to say, was disappointed.  It is more of a fable than a novel.  Dare I even say, heavyhanded.  It put me off reading anything else by him.  I'm keen to hear what thenop saw in his writing, however, I'm always open to having my mind changed on a subject.

Just noticed the Road to Santiago is a bit to literally an interpretation of the dutch title, it is actually called 'The Pilgrimage'.

I'm being dumb here Bec, what did you mean by this sentence?

Stu Clark

Why that is so cool.  I had no idea about  this kind of word play.  Thanks Bec, I look into it some more.
