By Charlie Connelley - about a guy who travels around all the shipping forecast areas (tyne, dogger, North Utsira, etc). Similar dry wit to Bill Bryson. A really excellent read.

Really? He's on a boat going round the North sea?

Nah, he does it all by land (and in a couple of cases by flying over). It's not just the North Sea. The Shipping Forecast covers the Atlantic from Gibralter up to Iceland. I got it in the summer and enjoyed it a lot. He has a similar style to Bill Bryson. If you like his books you'll probably like this.

Well not just the North Sea - he basically flies around the English Channel, Bay of Biscay, Irish Sea etc and though it sounds dull and has been done before, it's actually a very good read. I sent the author an e-mail telling him how much I'd enjoyed it, and he actually replied, thanking me for the extra revenue, which would be wisely invested in the local pub!!
