I'm off to Guernsey for a week in August. Just me and No. 1 son, leaving the wife and girls at home.  ;D

Staying with friends in the Vale, just a short walk from L'Ancresse common / beach.  :D

Since Aurigny got some competition from BMI Baby the flights have come right down. Me and the lad are flying from Manc for

Ron

We still intend to do some island hopping and walking over there.

Well worth Island hopping Ron they are really beautiful. I understand the beach at Pembroke has lost it's blue flag status ARH. We're a couple of hundred yards from Vason and a morning and evening swim ;D ;D

Ben

We returned on the 8th so missed it. Went a fare few years back, the work some people put into their floats is astonishing.

My family and I used to spend summer hols at the Pontins on Jersey and used to help decorate the Pontins 'Battle' float. Two consecutive years a first was obtained! It was hard work ....... 20,000 blooms each time I think.

I simply must go back one year ........

Ben

Do go again the Channel Islands are beautiful. Guernsey more so than Jersey in my opinion.

I think I'm off to Guernsey again next May/June. I went on holiday there every year from the age of 12 to 19 and have been back a few times since.

The place holds special memories for my family, especially my Dad who continued to go back with my mum for years after my broher and I stopped going. My mum died last year and we all want to go back with him again in celebration of the good times we had.

That's really special Nicola, I hope the sun shines for you. This time we went with my father in law, who is a Guernsey man and mother in law to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They have gone every year but this year it looked impossible as my Mother in Law has Alzheimer's and really struggles, but we made it to, and through the airports and they, and we had a wonderful time. The anniversary was special but tinged with sadness as she was asking where her husband was and 'who put this ring on my finger'. It's a terrible disease but my father in law is just so patient and supportive, he was so pleased to be back again and able to visit old friends.

I don't know what it is about the place but it is special. I'm glad all turned out well for you. Hopefully the same will happen next year for us.
