As a gentleman of leisure, I appear to have turned into an alcoholic  :o  Rather than more binges there seems to have been more small drinks, a bottle of beer, a whisky or a glass of wine in the evening. Determined to get this down below 1500 this year. Watch this space ...

Yearly Total : 1834 (260 more than last year  :-\  )
Average per day : 5.03
Average per week : 35.27
'Best' Month : 168.4 (November)
'Worst Month' : 115 (Both August & September )

Longest Dry : 5 days (only one plus a few four day drys)
Highest Daily : 30 (Scotland v All Blacks all day session with Pricey and his mates. This may actually be an underestimate !).

Well that didn't turn out totally as planned but I suppose it is a bit less  ::)

Yearly Total : 1719
Average per day : 4.71
Average per week : 33
'Best' Month : 168.4 (November drinking with Pricey again - twice !!)
'Worst' Month : 89.4 (The closest I'll ever get to a dry January)
Longest Dry : 6 days
Highest Daily : 28 - Rugby with Pricey again. Lot of guesswork here as there was a lot of whisky being drunk from hip flasks.

Inspired by others I thought I'd try and keep a log for year which I just about managed to do.
Not going to swear the accuracy is 100% but it's near enough.

So here are my numbers for 2019

Total drinks consumed : 570
Total Units : 1299.55 - so we'll call it 1300
Average units per week calculates to around : 25.5
Average units per Day around : 3.65
Heaviest Month was September averaging 53.19 units per week
Lowest Month was June averaging 16.46 units per week
Heaviest Day : 20th July with 30.06 units consumed - a mates Garden Party and yes I felt rough the next day.

I did have more days not drinking than drinking although my average consumption per drinking day is around 8 units.

It's been an interesting experiment and on occasion has made me drink less which I guess is positive. The average per week does sit around where I thought it would so no massive surprise.
I am not continuing this into 2020 as I found it became a bit of a pain but I will be mindful to resist temptation at times to over-indulge.

I might try and do this for this year then. I've never really been a big drinker, even when I was single, but haven't bothered much at all with it since my heart attack at the end of March last year. In fact, I haven't had a drink since mid November thinking about it. How do you work out what constitutes a unit then?

I used a phone app called Alcodroid, you input the drink type from pre-selected menu and add the volume ie 20oz ( pint ) and the drinks ABV normally visible on the pump clip for a beer - the app then calculates the alcohol units.

2019 represents 12 years of recording for me. I'm not always 100%, but pretty good when drinking large amounts

Headline numbers:

Total: 1463 (up around 20)
Average:122 per month, 4 per day (just over)
Biggest day: "roughly" 35.9 (wedding in July)
Biggest month: July: 207
Driest Month: January: 40
Driest streak: 8 days in Jan. 4 streaks of 7 throughout the year.
Wettest streak: 7 days - Holiday in August

Cheers Keith, I'll give that a go then. When you say ABV, I'm assuming that's the strength, IE 4.1 for Carling?

Here are the scores on the doors for 2019 (my 12th year of recording my units). My first increase in total units since 2016, which is a little disappointing, but not a huge leap:

Total : 1507.7; still high, 4.1% up on 2018 (60.1 units more than last year)
Average per day : 4.13 (target of 4)
Monthly Average : 125.6 (5 more units per month, on average, than 2018)
Best Month : January, 83.6
Worst month : May, 171.5 (Camping holiday, staff team-building weekend, local music festival)
Longest dry spell : 5 days
Most consecutive wet days: 16 (summer holiday)
Highest daily total : 26.1 (the office Xmas bash; hadn't drunk this much for ages, suffered...)

Observations:

- increase from 2018, the first increase in 3 years
- lots less wet Thursday's, my Mon-Thurs. dry rule held better than 2017
- one additional month over target (5) compared with 2018
- I still drink everyday whilst in Spain, but moderately
- December beaten my May for my booziest month, but this years Dec. was 30 units 'better' than 2018's!
- my Xmas staff party intake was up nearly 10 units on 2018's.

2019 saw my first dry NYE in ages (combination of gigging, and being on codeine for a trapped nerve!), however 2020 started fairly wet due to a week in Spain - no dry January in this house!
