Ive found that picking a word or a chord out of a particularly troublesome earworm and segueing/morphing it into another, better song usually works well for me most of the time

Already did that with the Terry and June and Good Life themes. /drunken cough. Once I realised my mistake it was a pretty hideous remix.

All I need to do now is segue that awful composite into Ian Dury which was my last earworm - should be possible given the timelines, but I doubt Margo would like the lyrics.

That, was an Italian geezer!

Abba - Does Your Mother Know

...is the tune being casually whistled/hummed in Finance this morning.

EDIT:  As someone has uttered the phrase "...on the edge..." in a phone conversation, it's now Lady Gaga's song doing the rounds.  And on it goes, especially as it's Friday...  ::)

Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines

I know, I know.  I happen to like it.

The first (and second and third and fourth etc etc) time I heard it was during my holiday in Crete last month.  Reminds me of that.  I didn't realise it was "That "Controversial" Robin Thicke Song" until I got back.

Anyway, no matter what you think about it, it's not about what you've probably heard it's about.  Apparently, Edinburgh and Leeds Student Unions have banned it!  Deary, deary me. ::)

Or, more precisely, a dancier version that I hear on my gym's PA in the mornings.  This song has one of the all-time most melodic, catchiest pop choruses EVAH.  It's irresistable to my, um, sweet-toothed ears...  :)

Now I have the Wurzels version in my noggin

When the moon shines on the cow shed
and we're rolling in the hay,
All the cows are up there grazin'
and the milk is on its way.

[Chorus] I am a Cider Drinker,
I drinks it all of the day,
I am a Cider Drinker,
it soothes all me troubles away,
Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay, Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay
(Proper Job! Wanna try some, young 'un? C'mon, young 'un! Get a couple o' pints down 'ee then.)

It's so cosy in the kitchen
with the smell of rabbit stew,
When the breeze blows 'cross the farm yard
you can smell the cow shed too.
(Cor! Oi never smelt nothin' like it in all me loife)

When those combine wheels stops turnin'
and the hard days work is done,
Theres a pub around the corner
It's the place we 'ave our fun.
(Arrh! We'll 'ave some fun an' all!)

(C'mon, young 'un! Get a couple o' pints down 'ee then.)

Now dear old Mabel when she's able,
we takes a stroll down Lovers Lane,
And we sinks a pint o' Scrumpy,
then we'll play old natures game.
(Ah, ha, ha! Ooh, arrh!!)

But we end up in the duckpond
when the pub decides to close,
With me breeches full o' tadpoles,
And the newts between me toes.
(Cor! Mate!)

[Chorus]
(C'mon there, young 'un! Get up there an dance.)

I am a Cider Drinker,
I drinks it all of the day,
I am a Cider Drinker,
it soothes all me troubles away,
Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay, Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay,
Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay, Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay
Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay, Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay
Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay, Ooh arrh, ooh arrh ay

(Let cider be the spice o' loife! Arr!)

It's a bit of a Radio 2 listeners track that one....Thats not really typical of their music; although they describe themselves as "Too Rock for Country, Too Country for Rock" they are definitely more Skynyrd and Black Crowes than The Eagles or Poco.

They're both great tracks and the first  album as a whole was good (not played it in ages though). Felt very let down after seeing them at Brixton Academy (late 90s) and they played about an hour and ten minutes. Disappointed after journeying up from The Shire.

Growing up in North America, Slade were a bit of a joke band. Certainly we didn't take them seriously. I remember this song and ripping the p out of it. I wonder if it would sound any better if I head it now?

Growing up in North America, Slade were a bit of a joke band. Certainly we didn't take them seriously. I remember this song and ripping the p out of it. I wonder if it would sound any better if I head it now?
Of course this was a song from the 'second coming' of Slade, post Reading festival 1980. They did release some stonkers in that period but, for me, the 'original' songs were hard to beat.
I think Kiss (another joke band?) have previously acknowledged they were fans of their 'classic' stuff.

Slade - Run Runaway

What a stonkingly great feelgood stompalong from back in the day; sounds like a marvellous collision between Iron Maiden and Big Country.

So weird.  Apropos of absolutely nothing, I found myself singing that whilst walking upstairs to bed the other night.  The only place I will ever have heard that was when they mimed it on TOTP in the 1980's.  I much have VHS'd it, because some of the lyrics are clear to me - see the chameleon, lying there, in the sun, etc, etc.

Thing is, we're playing a birthday party this month and were asked to play Cum On Feel The Noize, so as I was learning the lyrics properly and playing along to it on You Tube, Run Runaway came up as a suggestion.

I remember loving it at primary school and listening to it again after so long rekindled all that and I can't stop hearing it in my head now.  The video is great fun as well.  It's my current favourite song - right cheers me up it does. :)

A few weeks ago I had the most overwhelming earworm I've experienced in my life. It was more like being possessed than having a tune go round in my head, and it lasted for about a week. Almost a spiritual experience.

I've always liked Todd Rundgren's Love Of The Common Man but I never really loved it until one day last month when it came up as a suggestion on YouTube, no doubt because I'd been listening to other Todd tunes in previous days. I played it and for some reason it resonated with me like it never had before, and from that point it was more like being possessed than having a tune go round in my head. It lasted for about a week.

A cracker- love that album!

For me it's 25 or 6 to 4. Going round my head so much I had to look up what it meant. Apparently Peter Lamm was struggling with lyrics to a song and he was up.till the early hours and the time was 25 or 26 minutes to 4 o'clock in the morning. Anyway great song so I don't mind it whirling round my head.
