Title: Clockwork Angels Tour 2012/13
Post by: Neilyyz on April 14, 2012, 16:06:38 pm
So there you have it in plain English. At the end of the press release on the Rush website for the forthcoming album it states that details of a full scale North American tour will be announced shortly.
Start packing your bags if you want to see Rush this year.

How much will they hammer us this time?

Very expensive for the NA dates, I'd imagine.

And rumour has it that they will all be indoor dates, so no option of cheap seats on the lawn.

The vortex on the new album cover is similar to what I envisage will happen to our bank balance when this kicks off.

We will moan about the price, but we will still buy the tickets.

I'd have to see the setlist before i commit these days which is really sad to say.

Have been over the pond twice and followed them since 81.

70/ 80 quid is becoming a joke in the current climate IMO.
and for a band that hates touring europe they appear to be following the golden cow??
Title: Re: Clockwork Angels Tour 2012/13
Post by: captainkurtz on April 15, 2012, 23:04:53 pm
Id be interested to see what they charge if they play Europe again.  £80.00?
Title: Re: Clockwork Angels Tour 2012/13
Post by: Andrew_Haldane on April 16, 2012, 00:55:22 am
Weve all seen and enjoyed the production (some of us more/less  than others) but who really cares about that side of it? Given the choice Im confident most punters would  rather stand and be closer to the stage  gladly have a bog standard back drop and some decent lighting, drop the videos  and pay £45 and maybe spend a bit more on merch or another gig.
Title: Re: Clockwork Angels Tour 2012/13
Post by: Captain Ron on April 16, 2012, 01:55:13 am
They're expensive these days for sure but I can genuinely say they have always given me good value for my money with their shows. How many I will be able to attend however is definitely an issue with Rush shows.
Title: Re: Clockwork Angels Tour 2012/13
Post by: Reg on April 16, 2012, 10:11:49 am
Well money is definitely an object with me these days.  I would love to see them at least twice this time around (just Dublin last time), but all depends on what they milk us for (assuming they do Europe of course - I certainly can't afford to go over the pond).

Post by: Fishy on April 16, 2012, 11:14:48 am
gave the last tour a miss as i thought £75 was just too much plus a setlist i wasn't too enamoured with.. depending on how the new album is and what setlist they come up with..i'll hold for now... Mrs F has stated she has absolutely no interest in going so if nothing else it could be a good excuse to get a few beers in if nothing else...

Think I will out of habit, plus I do genuinely think this will be it.

By the time they have done a US tour, then a break, then another US tour when they change 2 songs, it will be about 2014

At that point, they will officially be old men

Like Ron said, I'll commit to however many my budget will stretch to.  But as the prices keep creeping up, I reckon I'll be down to one or two shows this time if they bring their "Clockwork Angels" show to the UK.

But it's better than not seeing them at all.

I am aiming for a front row this time as well.

I was 2nd row at Manchester on the Time Machine Tour and I would like to be able to say I was  in the front row just once.

I don't think there will be another chance after 2014.

Never been to the states before and I was hoping for more than 1 date in the New York are.
The Newark, New York and Boston dates seems nice for a one week trip.
And as the New york date (Oct 22) is my birthday that would be a nice present for myself.

Being the employee of an independent, niche travel agency has its advantages sometimes. ;)

Thing is, the Indie Chick wants to go Greece in June, so that may mean I have to hold out until November, hence I could be looking at Atlanta and/or Tampa (where the weather will still be nice and warm).

It's all such a terrible bind, this...!!  :o

Because I live only a couple of miles away from it  :P just about every subway line goes to Atlantic Avenue so I don't think it would be a problem for anyone to get to if they were in NYC.

Holiday Inn Express on Lombard Street. It looks like Craig Smith will also be there.

I know what you mean Patrick.

The date of the Toronto gig (October 14th) is my wife's birthday so if I say that I'm going away while it's her birthday, my life wouldn't be worth living.

Just checked the Prudential Center Newark website and they list the ticket prices as follows:

Ticket Prices: $151.50, $96.00, $71.00, & $41.00 ($1 charity fee included in each ticket price)

That's about £100 for the top price ticket and it probably doesn't include booking fees.

Fake a letter from Births Deaths and Marriages indicating that there has been a mistake on her birth certificate and that her actual birthday was 14th November. She becomes a month younger and you get to go to the gig. It's a win win scenario!!  ;D

Have just seen the online add on livenation.com for the tour where it mentions songs from all sectors of their careers.
What really boiled my piss was a pre sale on 24th April for Citi card holders. I have never heard anything so pathetic in all my life. Ray has clearly sold out here. Offering the best tickets to punters who bank with a certain company is beyond a joke. The front rows will be full of suits by the sounds of it. On top of that is the VIP packages which will clearly be a complete rip off as well. £300 was mentioned in an earlier post which is probably about right. Ticket prices for the Vegas shows are $170, or £113. They must be that embarrassed by the price of the VIP tickets as they have not been put up yet. As much as I would love to see the band this year as I fear the next Euro tour will not be till 2014 I have to take a long hard look at things this week. Due to an endowment paying out in Sept I can get the cash no problem but can I justify a 5 day holiday costing a fortune. Its not as if it will be hot either, November in Vegas cant exactly be Caribbean temperatures. A 5 day trip to Vegas to take in the Phoenix show as well could end up costing as much as £2500---£3000 for myself and Mrs C. By the time you factor in car hire to get to Phoenix and an overnight stay there as well as bait for 5 days. If Mrs C accidently sits at a card table it could be double that.

My advice - wait for the European tour  (you did start a thread titled "2012/13 tour" after all ;) )

I agree it seems the live music experience in America especially is being driven away from the "working man"....

They are charging different amounts in different cities which probably reflects the local market and the cost of putting the show on in those cities. For Brooklyn, the top ticket is $170.50 + $21.85 Fees =$192.35. That's (approx) £110 + £14 = £125 for the ticket.  :o

On the opening night in Manchester, NH the top whack is US $94.00 + $13.45 Fees =US $107.45 (£61 + £7 = £68). That's cheaper than the top tickets on the last UK tour.

Hotel room booked - also at Holiday Inn Express, which seemed like the one in the best location, best price and decent reviews.

Ironically, it was the lovely Wife who gave a list of reasons why I should go when I was faltering a little bit.

Or Atlanta and Tampa with a cheeky Fort Lauderdale side-trip.

So thats me, Nick and Pete on the same flights.

Ive bagged the seats in the middle at the end of the block so I can recline my seat without upsetting anyone.  One of the few occasions when I dont want to be front row.

Nick is flying BA. I'm going Air Canada. These aren't codeshare flights so they are different planes.

I'm trying to convince a mate to fly to YYZ with me, though he is insisting he has no desire to go to Toronto and would much rather go to a different date. Does anyone have a compelling point that might help my case?! ( or should I give in and spend more money going to Vegas..)

It's the sort of place that's what you make it, I've found.

For instance, I was too outrageous even for the Strip, as during one of the most spectacular nights of free and cheap beers in history I was thrown out of the Stratosphere Hotel.  Not off the top, I hasten to add.

Been back to Sin City twice.  (Not to the Stratosphere).  ::)

Indeed. If they are doing that they should nip up over the border and do The Odyssey in Belfast too. I reckon they'd get a good proportion of the Dublin crowd up to that one too.  8)

I was surprised when they made the effort to come over last time that they didn't do the Odyssey too.  Ideally both but perhaps they'll just do Belfast next time ?

Signals??  :o  Not one I'd have thought would be near the top of their list of albums to play live next, but thinking back to the track listing, there's some good, classic stuff there, even tho I would still class it as 'new' Rush.

Wonder what theme they'd go for this time onstage ..... lots of fire hydrants and dogs.... could get messy  ???

Wonder how old they or I will be by the time they choose to play Caress of Steel / Hemispheres / A Farewell To Kings in their entirity?

That's my wishful though(s)...  ;)

As a building, I'm very interested, I've been spouting about a West Yorkshire arena for 30 years - back in my teens I used to think the site next to Hudds railway station would be ideal for a new venue - but I shan't be paying £80+ to get in.

It's a bit frustrating for me this time round.  For the TM shows I was able to book the best part of two weeks off; not so this year due to circumstances conspiring against me.  But I have tix for Manchester, London and Sheffield, so those are certainties.  Brum is a maybe at the moment and Glasgow is, sadly, out of the question - due to yet more circumstances conspiring against me!  ::) :)

You can't complain at 3, maybe 4 though mate. I can only afford 2!

I'm only going to see one show this time, but at least it's in London so I'll have the chance to meet some more TNMS members :)

I'm doing two.

Manchester  (third row) and then Sheffield with the boy.

I am tempted to try for Brum as well  ::)

True mate, and there was Toronto last year.  I've been spoilt. :)

sort of dawned on me that I am missing out this time round, which is a shame socially, and for the reason that the one rush track I always wanted to hear/see live I now wont (MD)

Ah well......

No guarantee that they'd play MD in Brum, if thats any consolation.

They did though.

Thought you'd been remarkably quiet this last few weeks, Jonners.

I like that setlist. Much tighter than the standard one.
