Title: Rage against the Machine
Post by: Gman on July 14, 2008, 12:48:16 pm
They were playing on Saturday at T in the Park, and by all accounts were very good.....all be it....a bit older and slower ;)

They wouldn't allow any TV footage of their show, but good to see them back, even if it's for only one show

They've played a few European dates, and are playing Leeds/Reading too.

Wonder if it's a Van Halen esque, grit our teeth and play scenario, or if they're really back, propa like.

The footage I saw from last years Coachella Festival in California is enough to make me search for a one day ticket for Reading Festival.

Listening to this now, with a massive hard on

Seeing them in Leeds, can't wait.  Even prepared to take the Wife's wrath (its a bank holiday weekend)

This might have something to do with them refusing permission for the TV broadcast:

Before 'Wake Up', De La Rocha spoke to the crowd about how the band were slammed by TV channel Fox News after their Coachella festival gig last year.

"They said we had said George Bush should be assassinated," declared the singer. "We did not say that. We said he should be tried for being a war criminal.

Ah. Good old Fox news.

The most entertaining channel on tv. "First and fair" is their slogan (hilarious in itself), it should be "we hate lefties".
For a truly toe curling experience, watch Sean Hannity interview GWB. It's real man love.

Very envious that you're going. I saw them play their last UK show pre break up at a very muddy Leeds festival. Awesome.

I was at that show, down the front. I slipped onto my back and lots of bodies slipped on top of me, I couldn't see the sky. It was the only time i've ever been to a gig and thought I was going to die. Scary.

RATM are the best band i've seen in over 25 years of gig going. Their gig at Manchester Apollo on the Evil Empire tour is the single greatest show i've ever been to.

Enjoy, old chap!  :)

Just saw some footage from T in The Park. Air Raid sirens going off and then...."We are Rage Against The Machine from Los Angeles". Boom! right into Testify. I am now scouring the earth for a one day Reading Festival ticket....Even if it is hiding in a bowl of rice in Indochina.

Testify is my favourite Rage track, would love to see them.
