Xbox One S issues
« on: August 28, 2017, 21:37:39 PM »

So . . . I've taken the plunge and got an Xbox One S.

Wish I hadn't now.

Thought I would try a bluray. Oh, hello, you need to download this app.  Ok. Kept downloading and failing install.  Eventually cleared the cache, removed my profile and started again. It worked.

Downloaded a previously purchased title "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night". Works no problems.

Purchased a digital copy of one of my favourite ever games, "Soul Calibur". It said I owned, and then I installed it.  It won't play though, cos it doesn't think I have rights to play it!

Error code 0x803f8001.  I see loads of complaints about this on the forums.  Might just end up taking it back and get a PS4 instead.

I've never had this kind of issue with PS.

Microsoft you big bag of smelly stuff!!!

Reach out in the darkness, and hold on for your life
All the fear of the future, all the emptiness inside
When the moment of truth arrives, hey, you can run but you can't hide

What's wrong with buying the games on disc and putting in the player Reg?

My boys have had an X Box 360 for a couple of years now and want an X Box 1 for Xmas - thing is the new console X Box 1X is due out in the autumn and I'm loath to buy already outdated technology!

This is an Xbox Arcade game - "Soul Calibur".  I don't know if it is available on disc.  I've got a support call ongoing with Microsoft, and they have acknowledged that the fault is at their end - I've done everything correctly, and they have identified that I am properly authorised, just their system for some reason has a glitch and returns the wrong value.

I'm not that worried about the cost - it was only £6.75, but if they can't fix it, I certainly won't be buying any more, I'll stick to physical games.  I've picked up a few 2nd hand including Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I'm always buying 'last year' tech, cos it is usually cheaper! I thought that Microshite would have ironed out the bugs in the system by now.  I've never had a problem with Sony/PlayStation.

Problem eventually resolved by clearing the 'local Xbox 360 storage' or something like that.
