The game itself was decent too. What happened to England in the 2nd half though? Anyone would have thought they had been reduced to 10 men, not France!

Outclassed , outplayed and out-thought

Spot on - familiar old story against the top quality teams though.

Passing in the second half was absolutely atrocious.  Can't see the overall lack of quality improving any time soon - in fact it seems to be getting even worse.

The under 20's may offer some hope for the future, but it won't belong before they, like the inept senior team, get too used to being lavished with rewards grossly disproportionate to their talent - and that will see to any potential they might have.

The problem is that its not that long ago that our current midfield was being lauded....Dier, Alli, Lalana etc

Yes...on recent (and mounting) evidence, Dier can't find a role and is generally out of his depth, Alli is terribly over-rated and is being found out and Lallana is simply garbage.

5 goals conceded in 2 games. Dier is starting to live up to his name. Our lack of quality is worrying, particularly in midfield.

They should have been out of the competition in normal time, let alone extra time....getting to the shoot out was a good achievement... :)

That may be so but doesn't defend losing one's bottle from 12 yds. Yet again we are celebrating failure.

We would have beaten the Portuguese first team on pens!

Flattered tonight by a late flurry of goals against the mighty Malta...why do I do this to myself?

Never even gave it the time of day, and was pissed off that we had to go without 2 episodes of Corrie so that they could air it.

This is exactly what it's come to mate.

Credit to England for eventually grinding out a result, but they are dreadful to watch and Slovakia played them off the park for much of that game with some terrific football but couldn't keep up their tempo - better sides will though.

Kane was in the defence's pocket and Delle Alli has "idiotic" to add to "vastly over-rated" on his CV.

It was refreshing for once to watch Oxlade-Chamberlain without having to make excuses for him.  What a disaster of a player.  (cue Klopp turning him around and making him a World beater)

Yes, he was shocking as well; great a finding blind alleys and cheaply surrendering possession.

It must be frustrating for Butland and Pickford to see the inept Hart still being picked before them.
