A lovely meal out at a country pub not too far from us. Cauliflower and blue cheese soup with bread, a carvery and sticking toffee pudding with ice cream. Fabulous value at £10 for 3 courses.

Sat by the river Severn at Bewdley with fish, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, washed down with a chilled bottle of 8.2% John Watson's vintage cider.

Took Wendy out to The China diner in Bridgnorth last Thursday night, and had a really nice meal. After a bowl of prawn crackers, the first course was sesame prawn toast and smoked Crispy chicken, followed by a second course of crispy duck pancakes. The main was beef in kung p.o. sauce, king prawns with stir fried vegetables, crispy chicken Hong Kong style and egg fried rice. We chose to have a portion of sweet and sour pork Cantonese style, and some seasonal vegetable. We couldn't fault it ☺.

The Swiss white wine served on the TGV Lyria services between Paris and Zurich is a little cracker. Best train wine I've ever had.

Perfect autumn tea tonight. Sausages, sweet potato/potato mash, carrots, peas and mushrooms all smothered in onion gravy with smoked bacon pieces. Yum- yum.

Had a cracking meal at a quirky little restaurant in Bewdley with Wendy on Wednesday night. Had smoked haddock and pea risotto to start, followed by braised lamb shank on mash with new potatoes and 2 veg. Dessert was a choice of 10 home made offerings brought around on a trolley, and you're allowed to have 2. I went for the raspberry and blueberry cheesecake with cream, followed by queen of puddings with cream. I had cheese and biscuits with grapes to follow, but due to time constraints I never had time for a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
